Glow-in-the-dark undies light up life

LINGERIE is set to lighten up, thanks to a North Coast mum.

Jan Hawley of Oxley Island has juggled family, full-time work and countless hours working through the night to develop her glow-in-the-dark lingerie range, Intimoglow.

"It's sensual and fun," Mrs Hawley said of her collection.

Her range of bras, camisoles, knickers and suspenders went on sale in December - it has been years in the making.

She was inspired when she spotted the glamorous glowing lace at an Italian mill when she was working as a fabric importer.

A growing family put the idea on the backburner before she hunted down another Italian company to produce the lace for her.

She currently sells on-line and said business had really picked up in the lead-in to Valentine's Day.

June 2006

Read this story about Amy's little angel in this week's Upper Cape Codder

Tragedy strikes family a second time By Robert Slager/ rslager@cnc.com A little angel has been whispering into Amy Johnson's ear every day since June 7. The voice of her little sister Kristen, forever frozen in time, is pleading with her to fight a little bit longer. "I know it's true," said Carol Henderson of Wareham, who lost one daughter to a car accident a decade ago and may now lose another. "Amy has injuries that you and I could not have survived." Amy Johnson, who moved from Wareham to Bridgewater just a few weeks ago, lost control of her car in the early morning and slammed into a tree near Exit 2 on I-495, suffering massive internal injuries. She remains in a coma in the intensive care unit of Brigham and Woman's Hospital.

El Paso preschooler abducted

A 3-year-old girl was kidnapped Wednesday evening from her home in the Kennedy Brothers Memorial Apartments in the Lower Valley, police said.

Police said they searched late into the night for Jaylin Marie Talamantes, who was last seen shortly before 5 p.m. at home with her stepmother in the housing complex at 447 S. Schutz off Zaragoza Road, said police spokesman Javier Sambrano.

Jaylin has blue eyes, light brown hair and a light complexion.

She was last seen wearing pink pants, a beige shirt with purple flowers and purple slippers.

Police said the girl was forcibly taken from the home.

Gender Change Costs Dean a Job

The legal point is the quality of the medical opinion that the gender confusion is a medically recognized condition beyond Julie's control as WSS explains above.

Also, the fact that Julie's spouse of 35 years accepted the change is a material fact.

The arguments the religious institution may put forth pale by comparison. This is neither a legal nor religious argument, but a medical one. Neither the religious nor the jurists bring any special knowledge to the table.

Right from wrong will be resolved on the facts of the case, not the school, Julie or Barnabee's opinion. The scripture quotes or other religious basis Barnabee waits for are irrelevant. But that does explain why a PR firm rather than lawyers are handling the School's responses.

Some other legal items of note are: the school is estopped to deny ability after years on the job, positive performance reviews, need to educate the school and the public about fairness and the difference between the First Amendment right to an individual's right to freedom of religion and the prohibition against organized abuse in the name of religion.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A levee break flooded hundreds of homes Saturday as the storm that has pummeled the West Coast with high wind and heavy rain dropped a thick blanket of snow on the Sierra Nevada on Saturday.

Up to 44 inches of snow had fallen in some parts of the Sierra Nevada, the National Weather Service said Saturday morning. Forecasters expected the storm to dump as much as 10 feet at higher elevations of the mountain range by Sunday.

East of the Sierra in Nevada's Lyon County, a levee broke early Saturday along an agricultural canal, releasing water as much as 3 feet deep into the town of Fernley and stranding about 3,500 people, authorities said.

Senior Taliban Figure Caught in Pakistan

Dadullah is the latest in a series of high-ranking Taliban militants to have been killed or captured either side of the border in the past year or so.

Pakistan, a key U.S. ally in the war on terrorism, concedes Taliban militants are active on its soil but has denied Omar and other militia leaders use Pakistan as a base of operations.

The violence in the country has often targeted politicians.

In Monday's suicide atttack, Khan, the candidate for parliament supported by the Awami National Party, was campaigning in North Waziristan when he was wounded and his supporters were killed, authorities said.

Lemming's Mailbag - Where Will They Go?

Recruiting is an entirely different world than it's ever been before.

What do you think of Florida getting three Top 100s the past few weeks (William Green, Omar Hunter, and Ramon Buchanan)? - Adam (Gainesville, Fla.)

The Florida staff does a great job, but it really comes down to Urban Meyer. He's relentless, aggressive, persistent and smart. They're still in the hunt for No. 3-ranked Julio Jones as well. Florida is making its late push toward potentially being the No. 1 class in the country. Green, Hunter and Buchanan are all big-time gets this late in the game. And it's still not over.

How good is this 2009 QB Matt Barkley that committed to USC? I saw he's considered the early No. 1-ranked junior. Is he as good as Jimmy Clausen was at that stage? - Johnny (Reseda, Calif.)

He's bigger than Clausen was, but they're two different players.
